PhD students:

-------------------------------

  • Jianquan Chen

Jianquan Chen is a PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Liu. His research focuses on several key areas:

  1. Developing mechanical models of interseismic stress accumulation and crustal deformation to better understand the mechanisms of earthquake generation.

  2. Investigating fault interactions and earthquake triggering.

  3. Studying mantle-lithosphere interactions and their impact on intraplate earthquake generation.

Jianquan's research primarily targets regions such as the East Anatolian Fault, western Morocco, and Northeast and Southeast Tibet.

Before joining our team, Jianquan earned a Bachelor's degree (2017) and a Master's degree (2020) from China University of Petroleum (Beijing). During his studies, he explored seismic wave propagation theory and conducted 3D numerical simulations of fluid flow in porous media using the lattice Boltzmann method.

  • Yanxin Li

Yanxin Li is a PhD student under the guidance of Prof. Liu. Her research focuses on:

  1. Developing mechanical models of interseismic stress accumulation and crustal deformation to understand the causes of earthquake generation.

  2. Investigating fault interactions and earthquake triggering.

Yanxin's current areas of research interest include North China Basin, as well as the Southern and Southeastern Tibetan Plateau.

Before joining SOES, Yanxin earned a Bachelor’s degree (2020) from Tongji University and a Master’s degree (2024) from the Institute of Seismology, China Earthquake Administration. During her Master's studies, she was involved in numerical modeling of stress evolution and crustal deformation in Southeastern Tibet.

  • Jingbo Wang

Jingbo Wang will begin his PhD studies in 2025 under the supervision of Prof. Liu. His research interests include:

  1. Developing mechanical models of interseismic stress accumulation and crustal deformation to understand the causes of earthquake generation.

  2. Studying fault interactions and earthquake triggering.

Jingbo's research will focus on regions such as the Sea of Marmara, the Alpine region, the North China Basin, and the South China Sea. He is set to receive his Bachelor’s degree from Soochow University in 2025.
